Garyn's Arrival

Well, as it turns out, my previous post was a little premature! Garyn Riley Young made his apperance into the world two days earlier than planned. He was born April 12, 2008 at 3:41 pm.

He was 8 pounds 10 ounces and 21 3/4 inches long. We had a c-section planned for Monday the 14th, but I went into labor instead (but still had the c-section).

Ironically, the night before Garyn arrived, I was having some hard contractions, but nothing regular and they went away. My mom was painting a pirate ship on Garyn's wall and I told her that I was going to be really upset if I went into labor. I told her that God usually slaps me in the face and trys to teach me a lesson when I try to plan things out. Of course she chimes in with, "It's just because you are a slow learner!" Point taken, God!

Garyn is a great baby (he is not quite 2 weeks old now). He sleeps fairly well and eats like a champ. Ellie is absolutely over the moon for him. She loves to give him kisses and talk to him and she sometimes sings songs to him. She is getting better about being quiet around him and about being gentle with him.

Wes was off work until today, so mommy is having to learn how to care for 2 kids at the same time. I admit, I was rather spoiled because Wes was off work for so long and kept Ellie occupied most of the time. We are making things work though, and even though I have been worried and scared about having two young kids, it has been a little smoother than I thought that it would be.
